Stability in fluidity.

For a few reasons I had never really done yoga in the sand, but the first experience this past week was an epiphany. Doing any pose on sand you are keenly aware of the movement of your foundation shifting as you attempt to find steadiness in the pose. Everything around you is moving, the waves, the wind, creatures in the water and in the sky and especially the sand beneath your feet. The only way to remain steady is to anchor your body and mind with your inner observer, as your foundation shifts and the world around you moves. Just one more revelation how the practice of yoga develops the skills needed to remain stable in the fluidity of everyday life.
